Tennessee
Moonlight Tennessee
moonlight is the third of my seven completed novels. The idea started when I
awoke from a dream with the image fresh in my mind of a lonely backwoods woman
{dressed funny and toting a double-barreled shotgun} facing off with a
handsome, young construction worker. My endlessly romantic brain started
supplying details. The finished product turned out something like this. Ann Mason is a
gumboot-shod, overall wearing, shotgun toting Tennessee widow woman who became
strong and self reliant after surviving an abusive father and a brutal husband.
Jackson Barrister, a spoiled Midwestern playboy, is banished to Tennessee to
learn the family business from the ground up, and hopefully mature into
manhood. They meet in a clash over Barrister’s plans to build a resort on
property bordering Ann’s—and sparks fly. Soon Jack is neck deep in the mystery
surrounding Red Mason’s death five years ago. Given the helpfulness of an old
black man named Haber Judd, a huge, ferocious dog named Peanut, and Ann’s
lifelong distrust of men, what are the chances love will bloom under “Tennessee
Moonlight”? Sound
interesting? I hope the tidbit will tantalize your curiosity, you’ll read the
story, and enjoy it as much as I enjoyed writing it. Other novels as
yet unpublished are Graduation Day, Love Strikes Twice, Homecoming, and Dos.
I’m currently working on The Van Welker Bride which I hope to finish before the
year’s end. I've also co-authored a Sci-Fi mystery titled 'Absentminded' with novelist, Toni Cantrell, under the pseudonym, Voni Ryan. Although
Tennessee Moonlight is my first published novel, many of my short stories have
been published in Weeds Corner Magazine, a short story publication. One is a
non-fiction story about my husband’s Doberman Pincher, Blackjack. His antics
still bring laughter when my friends and I talk about our pets. My attempt at
creative non-fiction produced The Snake Slayer, a true story of a baby snake
that plagued out house for several months, until he/she was no longer a baby. I
took certain liberties with helpful quotes from friends to create a spot of
humor. They didn’t seem to mind. In a world of
fake Santa’s and plastic reindeer, Rachel’s Return to Christmas reminds us of
the true meaning of December Twenty-fifth. Santa’s Swan Song
is a four part fantasy/romance between a vacationing Santa skeptic and the real
McCoy. Family Treasure
leads a weary heart to understand the true treasure is family. Some of these, along
with the occasional poem, may be ordered as back issues from www.weedscorner2.com |
